As wildfires continue to impact communities across Canada, our thoughts are with everyone affected. We understand the uncertainty and stress these events can create, and we want policyholders to know that Mutual Fire Insurance is here to help. Our claims team is ready to provide support, guidance, and assistance throughout the evacuation, claims, and recovery process.
If you have been placed under an official evacuation order, we encourage you to submit a claim as soon as possible. Once your claim is received, a claims examiner will contact you to review your coverage, discuss available benefits, and provide ongoing support throughout the evacuation period.
An evacuation alert means you should be prepared to leave on short notice if conditions change.
An evacuation order means you must leave the area immediately for your safety.
Eligible farm and home policyholders may receive up to $3,000 in evacuation assistance during the first 21 days of an evacuation order. If the evacuation order remains in place beyond that period, an additional $2,000 may be available, for a maximum benefit of $5,000.
Policyholders who receive Emergency Support Services (ESS) funding may still be eligible for evacuation benefits under their Mutual Fire policy.
If your claim relates only to evacuation expenses:
If your home has been severely damaged or destroyed by wildfire, notify us immediately. A claims examiner will be assigned to your file and, where required, an adjuster will be engaged to provide support and help guide you through the recovery process.
When it is safe to return, inspect your property for any damage and contact your claims examiner if concerns are identified. Wildfire-related claims may include smoke damage, food spoilage resulting from power outages, freezer contents loss, melted siding, and other covered property damage.
